It's not your typical method of flavoring water. Instead of adding a flavor booster directly to the water, you acquire "flavor pods" that elegantly slide over the mouthpiece. As you take a sip, you're greeted with subtle aromatic cues – a brilliant ruse that tricks your senses into believing you're enjoying flavored water.
As someone who still relishes her La Croix, occasionally indulging in a six-pack in a day, I've had moments of contemplation about the vague "natural flavorings" hidden in certain canned seltzers. Does it genuinely transform your water's flavor?
What's Worth Noting About the Air Up Water Bottle
It did take me a little while to grasp the mechanics of using the flavor pods and to become accustomed to the air bubbles they generate when activated. Although these bubbles are intentionally incorporated into the experience, they might initially create a sensation of uneven water flow, particularly when sipping on seltzer. However, after a day or so, I found myself no longer bothered by it and could fully enjoy my "flavored" water. Some flavors appealed to me more than others (lemon was delightful; basil was almost overwhelming), but every pod delivered a robust taste.It's important to mention that this water bottle falls on the higher end of the price spectrum. The most affordable starter kit, which includes a bottle and a pack of three flavor pods, will cost you around $40. Opt for a more elaborate color and flavor, and the total could climb to $50. Subsequent three-packs of pods are priced at $8 each. While it's certainly a more budget-conscious choice than a daily six-pack of La Croix, it's still a cost worth considering.
Additionally, the pods are constructed from plastic, which might raise concerns for environmentally conscious water enthusiasts. Nevertheless, Air Up underscores that the pods' exteriors are made from recyclable materials, while the interiors are crafted from polyester. Although the pods themselves aren't reusable, Air Up emphasizes that refilling their water bottle can help minimize the number of single-use plastic water bottles contributing to landfills.
